Sometimes reality needs a little creative interference.
Like putting a parrot in a coffee cup.
Coffee Parrot grew from my longtime desire to turn some of the creatures around me into characters — giving them a little personality and placing them in situations where they quite obviously have no business being.
And naturally, coffee became involved.
Because if you’ve followed my work for any amount of time, you’ll know that coffee and I maintain a very committed relationship — particularly on Monday mornings.
This little fellow became a chance to mash those worlds together: a familiar creature, an unreasonable location and just enough imagination to make the whole thing work.
He is cosy.
He is caffeinated.
He appears to have claimed the cup.
And frankly, I respect it.
Coffee Parrot is a cheerful little collision of island inspiration and everyday whimsy — and one of those drawings that reminds me exactly why I love making slightly ridiculous things in the first place.
