Hi, I’m Kristi —
the artist behind Paper & Whimsy.
Paper & Whimsy is a stationery and printable subscription that is inspired by island life, creativity, beautiful little details, and the belief that art doesn’t have to be serious to be meaningful.
Many of my pieces are playful, colourful — sometimes detailed, sometimes a little surreal. But always with a sprinkle of whimsy. I pull strong inspiration for each of my pieces from the colourful culture, flora, fauna, and little everyday moments around me.
How it all started
If you’ve ever looked at a beautiful notebook and thought:
“I should save this for something important.”
We are already the same person.
I’ve loved art, paper goods, sketchbooks, planners, and creative projects for as long as I can remember.
Over the years I’ve filled sketchbooks, lost sketchbooks, started new sketchbooks, abandoned drawings halfway through, rediscovered them months later, and occasionally wondered why I own so many pencils while simultaneously never being able to find one.
Somewhere in all of that creative chaos, Paper & Whimsy began to take shape.
Why I Created Paper & Whimsy
Paper & Whimsy was created because I wanted creativity to feel joyful.
– Not perfect.
– Not intimidating.
– Not another thing on a never-ending to-do list.
…Just joyful.
I wanted to create collections that help people slow down, decorate their spaces, fill their planners, print beautiful things, and find tiny moments of creativity throughout their week.
Some Fun Facts About Me!
- I’m a proud island girl — the colours, animals, and ocean make it into my work.
- I own more sketchbooks than any reasonable person should.
- I frequently lose artwork and then accidentally find it six months later.
- I can spend an alarming amount of time choosing paper.
- I firmly believe beautiful stationery is a perfectly acceptable personality trait.
- Most of my best ideas arrive when I should be doing something else.
- Long weekends remain one of life’s greatest achievements.
