Our Little Chameleon
This little fellow is one of Grand Cayman’s very own characters.
The Cayman blue-throated anole — also known locally as the Cayman anole, blue-fanned anole or simply our little chameleon — is found only on Grand Cayman.
The males can range from bright turquoise and green to darker browns, beige and pale grey, and they are especially spectacular when showing off that brilliant blue throat-fan.
You can find these colourful little guys wandering around the island, climbing trees or casually appearing on the sides of buildings as though they own the place.
And honestly?
They kind of do.
I loved bringing this tiny bit of island life to the page. Because sometimes the things that make a place feel like home aren’t the big landmarks.
Sometimes they’re the little creatures you almost walk past.
